OTHER CREATIVE EXPERIENCES

My unique experiences resumé, if you will. Amazing experiences I've had that don't necessarily fit into any normal resumé category.

January 2019 - May 2019

I taught English to high school students at I.E.S. Luz Del Mar in El Ejido, Almería, Spain for five amazing months.
I entered this program because I have consistently been torn between my passion for journalism and my passion for education. I also knew if I wanted to make a bigger impact on how people communicate, I would need to start traveling and gaining an international perspective. Being thrown into teaching taught me how to improvise with limited resources, as well as how to effectively get a message across to an uninterested, impatient audience.

August 2018 - December 2018

I took a virtual reality journalism class during my last semester of college and made three different videos. It was a challenging medium to learn in a short period of time. Through these projects, I learned a lot about multi-tasking (as 360 video content takes HOURS to upload and then edit). I also learned about failing but prevailing, as my final video project ended up not going as planned due to privacy issues, so I had to work with what I had to make something. Above is my favorite project about the election machines used to vote in Centre County.

State of the Story.jpg

November 2017

I participated in the State College version of the Moth storytelling event, called State of the Story. I shared my story of irony.

Summer 2018

Working as the videography assistant and the general project assistant, I helped transform two high school libraries within Southern Tioga School District from boring libraries into innovative discovery spaces. I conducted the one-on-one video interviews with school administration and faculty. In addition, I was the odds-and-ends assistant, helping with Lowe's runs for supplies, adding finishing touches on paint jobs, managing film and hardware equipment, and helping lead school students in different renovation projects. After clicking the link above, find the tab labeled "Southern Tioga."

Spring 2018

I have always wanted to organize a flash mob. A music video with my housemates is as close as I've gotten--check it out!

EMPATHY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Summer 2018

The word empathy has always held deep meaning to me, as I believe it is something our media cycle is missing. I handed out 100 hand-made empathy bracelets to community members, along with a card explaining the importance of empathy. I also made empathy string art to hang in my home, the co.space.
